Rainpower

Rainpower is a Norwegian industrial group supplying turbines, generators, control and governing equipment for hydropower.  The group carries forward 150 years of industrial development started by Kværner; our operations are international – our technology is developed by competent employees in Norway and China. We have our own laboratory and a workshop in Norway; operations in seven locations worldwide.

Our target markets today are small and medium-sized hydropower projects in Norway and abroad.  We have state of the art technology for medium and high head hydropower turbines, pump turbines, turbine controls, inlet valves, gates and penstock. We are also the leading Norwegian company for excitation and governor equipment. We are a leading supplier of service and refurbishment projects for the hydropower industry for  hydro mechanical as well as electrical equipment and systems.

Rainpower has unique expertise and a highly skilled engineering staff. We have a first class hydraulic laboratory for testing of Kaplan, Francis, Pelton and pump turbines, with direct reference to approximately 27,000 megawatt of installed prototype turbines. We have a specialized workshop with skilled workers. Our engineers have been involved in some of the largest and most prestigious projects in the world, such as the Yangtze Three Gorges Project in China and the Guri Project in Venezuela. We have the necessary drive and ambition to develop new technology solutions for the renewable energy sector. Our strategy is continued growth through recruitment, acquisitions, and continuous innovation within the existing organization.
